FAQ's
01. How often should my piano be tuned?
Pianos should be tuned once a year to year and a half! Waiting longer can make it more difficult for the piano to hold onto its tuning, making the sound progressively worse over time.
02. What if I just moved?
After moving, strings typically go out of tune. Wait 2-3 months for the strings to settle in, then book an appointment to revive your piano's sound.
03. What if my piano hasn't been tuned in a long time?
Pianos that haven't been tuned in a long time tend to be extremely out of tune, as the strings aren't used to being stretched. Once tuned again for the first time, strings want to slip back to where they were, causing the piano to go out of tune again. It is highly recommended that out-of-tune pianos are tuned 2-3 months after the original tuning to ensure that the strings don't slip out of place.
04. How long does it take?
Tuning a piano that receives regular servicing should take about an hour and a half. If the piano hasn't been serviced regularly, the tuning could take upwards of two hours.
05. What are your credentials?
I received 5 months of training from a professional tuner in 2020. Since then, I have tuned hundreds of pianos. I start with an electric tuner, but tune the rest of the piano by ear.
06. How much do you charge? How does it compare to other tuners in the area?
I charge $115 per tuning, plus a $10 travel fee if you live further than 20 minutes away from me. However, if you live further than 30 minutes from me, we'll talk more in depth about what the travel fee will be. Compared to tuners in the area, I guarantee that I have the most competitive pricing in Utah Valley!
